AJ McCarron Slams FSU QB Thomas Castellanos: “This Is Just Stupid”
Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron isn’t holding back after some bold comments from Florida State’s new QB, Thomas Castellanos.
It all started on June 23, when Castellanos who just transferred from Boston College took a jab at Alabama in an interview. With a big season opener coming up between FSU and Bama, Castellanos basically said the Crimson Tide wasn’t the same without Nick Saban and that he didn’t think Alabama would be able to stop him.
That didn’t sit well with McCarron, a two-time national champ with the Tide. On a recent episode of The Dynasty podcast, McCarron gave his honest opinion and didn’t sugarcoat a thing.
“If you’re someone like Thomas, just shut up and work. Let your game speak for itself,” McCarron said.
He even reminded people that Castellanos got benched at Boston College before transferring losing the starting job to Grayson James and said that kind of history should’ve humbled him a bit.
“Dude, you lost your job in the ACC and finished ninth,” McCarron added. “I get being confident, but this is just stupidity. Now you’ve poked the bear I wouldn’t want to be you in that first game.”
McCarron kept going, predicting that Alabama’s defense will expose Castellanos’ weaknesses especially the ones that got him benched in the first place.
“Once he gets hit a couple times and that accuracy disappears again, he’s gonna have to figure things out quick,” McCarron said. “He has no idea what kind of team he’s going up against the talent, the speed, the toughness.”
In short: McCarron thinks Castellanos talked way too much and is about to learn a hard lesson on game day.
