NFL Unveils 2025 Thanksgiving Day Schedule: Star QBs and Rivalries Take Center Stage

The NFL has officially released the slate of games for the 2025 Thanksgiving Day lineup, sticking with the tradition of three matchups throughout the holiday. As always, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will host games, continuing legacies that date back decades.

The day kicks off at 12:30 p.m. ET with the Lions hosting the Green Bay Packers on FOX. It’ll be the 23rd Thanksgiving meeting between the two NFC North rivals, who once faced off every year from 1951–1963. While the Packers have historically had the edge overall, the Lions have won six of the last seven against Green Bay—though that one loss came on Thanksgiving in 2023.

Next up at 4:30 p.m. ET, the Cowboys welcome Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs to AT&T Stadium for a rare holiday matchup on CBS. It’s only the second time Mahomes will face Dak Prescott in his career, and it marks Mahomes’ first-ever Thanksgiving appearance. The Chiefs haven’t played on Thanksgiving since 2006, making this an intriguing non-traditional pairing.

The nightcap, airing on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET, features a divisional showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson—both MVP-caliber quarterbacks—will battle in what’s expected to be a tightly contested finale. Their recent matchups have been thrilling, with four of the last five games decided by one score.

Historically, the Lions are 38-45-2 on Thanksgiving, while the Packers sit at 15-20-1. The Cowboys boast a strong 34-22-1 record, and the Chiefs are an even 5-5. The Ravens are 2-0 on Thanksgiving, and the Bengals are 0-1.

Between legendary rivalries and marquee quarterback battles, the 2025 Thanksgiving games promise to be must-watch football from start to finish.
