All Eyes on Russ: Giants Ride or Die in 2025 with Mr. Unlimited

The Giants Are All-In on Russ for 2025 — and He Has to Deliver

The New York Giants had a rough 2024 — finishing 3-14 with arguably the worst QB group in the league. So this offseason, they hit reset.

They signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, then used their first-round pick to grab Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss. Oh, and Tommy DeVito is still hanging around too.

The plan is clear: Wilson’s the starter, Winston backs him up, and Dart sits and learns. The ideal situation? Russ plays well enough to keep the Giants competitive and buys time for Dart to develop behind the scenes. If things go right, Winston won’t even see the field.

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin summed up the “best-case scenario” like this:

“Russell Wilson has just enough juice to give Brian Daboll the play-action ball-controller he needed for a 2022 playoff bid, but Jaxson Dart develops behind the scenes to give New York true long-term quarterback hope.”

Translation: Russ needs to manage the offense, win games, and let the rookie cook quietly on the sidelines.

Wilson, now 36, is coming off a solid 2024 with the Steelers — 63.7% completions, 2,482 passing yards, 16 TDs, just 5 picks, plus a bit of running (155 yards, 2 rushing TDs). Not elite, but definitely steady.

The schedule for 2025 won’t be easy, but if Wilson finds chemistry with rookie WR **Malik Nabers**, the Giants might actually score some points this year — and maybe even surprise a few teams.

Bottom line: Russ has to show he’s still got it. If he does, the Giants might finally be back on track.
