Jalin Hyatt’s Not Backing Down — He’s Coming for the Doubters
Jalin Hyatt was supposed to be the big-play guy for the Giants — the speedster who could stretch defenses and open up the field. But let’s be real: his first two years didn’t exactly live up to the hype. Between his own up-and-down performances and shaky quarterback play, things just haven’t clicked. His second season? Rough. Real rough.
Now heading into Year 3, Hyatt’s no longer a lock for the Giants’ future plans. With the team re-signing Darius Slayton to a three-year deal, Hyatt’s ceiling right now looks like WR4 — at best.
But Hyatt isn’t ready to fade quietly. During OTAs, he’s been showing some fire — especially working with veteran QB Russell Wilson. In fact, he even fired off a short (now-deleted) tweet to the haters:
“I hold grudges .. I ain’t forget.”
Last season, Hyatt barely made a dent — 8 catches for 62 yards across 16 games. No touchdowns. But there’s still hope. His speed is elite, and it could finally pay off if Wilson can get the ball deep like he used to. Wilson even shouted him out recently, saying he’s “really excited” about Hyatt’s progress.
“The time we spent in the offseason has paid off,” Wilson told reporters. He praised Hyatt and the whole WR group, especially their speed and playmaking.
With head coach Brian Daboll pushing a more aggressive offense, and Wilson slinging it, Hyatt might finally get his shot. He’s been off to a hot start in camp — now he just needs to keep stacking those wins and prove he’s more than just potential.
Wilson summed it up simply: “Jalin Hyatt — he’s a guy I really believe in.”
